Pier 45 in Manhattan- Hudson River Park

Hello everyone! I wanted to talk about Wednesday, when I went to the Hudson River Park. My friend wanted to take me to tango, which was on Pier 45 each Wednesday. I only learned maybe one or two basic steps, but it was enjoyable for me; we walked from around from St.Marks to over there. I honestly took more photos of the area than of the tango folks; all of the people there were of various ages. Well, here is the place I wanted to share; the park is free and it is a relaxing place to be in if you get the chance!

Coney Island in Brooklyn Pt.2 - Coney's Cones

As we were going to the boardwalk, we stopped to get some snacks on our way home.
I thought this place, Coney's Cones, (with the subtitle, Coney's Ice Cream and Cafe'), had
sandwiches, because paninis were advertised on the window, but it was very crowded when
the group I was in went in, and I could only see a drink/snack menu. I ended up ordering
chocolate marshmallows on a stick, and a blue raspberry slush. The marshmallows were
melted, but not roasted, but it still tasted very good! And the slush is probably one of the
best I had in years. It was a very soft slush, and when you drink it, it did not taste like some
slushes that dried up and was a bunch of ice after the coloring was gone; whoever made it
mixed the ice and coloring perfectly, so you drank both together. If you want to look for a
good snack booth on the boardwalk, go visit this place, if you get the chance. The only
critique I have is to have a good ear if it's busy; they give you a ticket number and call
your order out in a rather disorganized line.

Coney Island in Brooklyn Pt.1

For my second post of the evening, I'm going to be posting photos of my trip to Coney
Island, on July 4. Although in the summer, Coney Island has free fireworks each Friday,
they had a small fireworks display in July 4th, that only lasted a minute or so, unfortunately.
However, that didn't stop our group from enjoying the place despite the disappointment.
We went to the beach and got snacks at a boardwalk shop, which I will save for the second
post. Although I went to the new Luna Park and Astroland theme park in prior years, I did not
go on this day, so I won't be putting these posts in the amusement park section.
In the meantime, what can I say about Coney Island? I studied its history for many
years, and although in the past it looked a lot worse than it does now, it always held a
rather special place in my heart. Growing up in a small middle class family in New York,
my father, when I was very young, didn't have enough money for something like Six Flags,
or Disney World. My first theme park I remember going to was Coney Island, even when it
was in shambles. So I always remembered it in a rather fond way, and was pleased when
I heard the city was finally going to renovate it.
I could go on and on about Coney Island, but I won't do that in this post, lol. For more
information on Coney Island and its events, you can check this site, and this one. The giant
lighted building is the train station.

New York City - South Street Seaport

Good evening everyone! Well, I must admit, I've focused on this blog with more posts on food than anything else, and feel that I've neglected the other sections of my blog.XD Well, no matter, I will fix that eventually, ha ha.

Now, how many of you folks heard of South Street Seaport ? For those of you wondering, South Street is in Manhattan, near the Brooklyn Bridge. It's a port designed for tourists and local fairs, so there are many vendors in boutiques lined near the port, as well as a nautical museum. (When I went with my friend that day the museum was closed, but we walked around the whole area.~)

Of course, there are docked ships near the port, and I think you can take tours of them, as I saw people walking on the decks that day. There are a few restaurants scattered about as well, but my favorite find on our trip was Pier 17. Pier 17, on the outside at least, looks somewhat like a typical boating pier, but inside is a two story mall! Unfortunately, I did not take photos inside of the pier, (but when I go again this summer, I'll try to remember!)

Based on the website,( the one linked above), it seems many festivals and events go on during the year next to South Street, so if you're heading to New York and want to find a local place that's affordable, go give it a look.~ (Word of advice though, most of the shops in the Mall have affordable prices for food and things, ranging in the 12$ + range, but the vendors, being vendors, can charge any prices they want, so some stalls might sell items for $10- $20,outside, while others might go as high as $50- $200. Just a heads up!) The last few pics are from the balcony of Pier 17.
